We saw the market price for Obsidian stay quite stable between 3500 and 4000 drams a piece this week.
There were some unsuccessful attempts to undercut the price by using the auction feature without a buy out option. Understandably that effort didn’t affect the direct buy out price at all. I guess buyers who can pay 4000 drams a piece, won’t wait for three days for their valuable ore — it’s much faster to go and get it from the cave. It’s also amusing that this effort to manipulate market came from the same people accusing us of market manipulation.
Few times Obsidian was available to buy from 2000 to 3000 drams a piece. However, usually you had to buy a pack of multiple to get it that low.
On the other hand, the availability was pretty good for most of the week. There was a small shortage this Saturday, but sellers restocked their products quickly.
The rarity of the Obsidian and issue with the Crystal Cave were also mentioned at the community forum Crystal Cave Ore Issue. The market “crash” issue even got a note in the fan-published Highsteppe Press.
Although, Mishka’s “Obsidian is worth 700 drams/piece” was clearly not true this week. Next week, who knows?
